Nurin Fm
Type Locality and Naming
By Nure city, Kyzylkum. A.V.Begishev, A.G.Kutepov in 1989 (Decision of the Commission on the Paleogene System of SredazRMSK, 1989). Stratotype in the Sangruntau Mountains. The most complete sections are exposed in wells 17, 18, 0.5 km from Nure city. Used in the preparation of reference legends, in geological survey, exploration and thematic works of the Kyzylkum mining region (Stratigraphy of the Paleogene of the Sultanuizdag Mountains, 1989, A.A.Abdusamatov et al.).
Synonym: Nurin Suite, Нуринская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Gray, dark gray, greenish-gray clays, marls. In East Kyzylkum, at the base, with phosphorites and layers of "combustible shales". In Central Kyzylkum - blue-green clays with nests of red. Thickness up to 25 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies conformably on the Kazakhtau Fm or with erosion on various mountainous upper Cretaceous, in some areas of Kyzylkum facially replaces the lower part of the Sugralin Fm.
Upper contact
Overlain conformably by the Sugralin Fm.
Regional extent
West, Central and East Kyzylkum, Zirabulak-Ziaetdin and Nuratau districts. Correlated with the upper part of the Kyzyltakyr Fm of the South Aral region, the Kaynarbulak Fm of the Prishashkent (Pre-Tashkent) district. Corresponds to the middle part of the Givar Fm of the South-West Gissar.

Contains foraminifers - Popovia plana (N. Byk.), Haplophragmoides grzibowski Mjatl., Globorotalia perclara Loebl. et Tapp., G. velascoensis acuta Toulm and others.
